This app is mostly a convenience feature. The next release of IMatch is promised to be able to import the Lightroom catalog, so I'm hopeful

IMatch of course cooperates with all other common RAW processors, image and video editors, audio processing applications, Office and PDF software etc. Metadata modified in IMatch shows up in Lr and vice-versa.įor in-depth information about things you should consider, see the article Using Lightroom and IMatch together in the IMatch Knowledge Base. There is usually no need to migrate from Lightroom to IMatch.Ībout 50% of the IMatch user base use Lr as a RAW processor and manage their digital assets in IMatch.

Problem is, most of the tutorials I've found are on how to migrate from IMatch to Lightroom, rather than migrating from Lightroom to IMatch. I also suspect a real DAM, like IMatch, will blow LR away. Good luck in your search! I hope I've helped. The learning curve, I hear, is a bit steep, too. Capture One is about twice as expensive as Lightroom as a stand-alone product, and about twice as expensive as the Adobe LR+PS CC subscription plan when Capture 1 is licensed as a monthly subscription. I haven't tried that, as I'm still financially recovering from the purchase of my Fuji. The best alternative to Lightroom, not only as a RAW processor, but as a DAM as well, may be Capture One. Lightroom and On1 don't make that mistake.īest idea is use the trials for anything you're interested in to test, test, test. Erased key exposure data in the EXIF when I tried to add copyright information to the RAF files. LR is a lot easier, and to me, keywording and searching/filtering by keywords is much, much more intuitive and powerful. However, as a DAM, On1 leaves a lot to be desired. Good friend of mine prefers On1 for his Nikon shots, too. I'm sorta OK with the latest LR, but for the reasons mentioned, prefer the latest On1 product. I'm a recent convert to Fuji, but an older generation - the X-E2S.

When shooting with Nikon, I found DXO Pro Optics to be superior, especially with the Prime noise reduction (but boy, does that suck up CPU time!). You'll be rewarded with better images.Īs a RAW processor, I'm not too keen on Lightroom. Just like any piece of software, take your time, play with it and learn it, and watch the videos. You may get differing opinions, but for me, I'm sold.

I'm getting better results and I don't have to do as much. And I see that, without any processing, the Fuji files are simply cleaner and sharper. Not so in On1, it handled the files so much better. definitely had the worm effect they talk about, and I lost details on the wood structures, etc. I was shooting some colorful old barns in Maryland, and when I pushed the detail, shadow recovery and high lights in LR, I was unhappy with the results. I shoot landscapes here in Virginia and in Maryland along the Chesapeake. There is a distinct difference in image quality on some types of images. At the same time, I saw Eric Marks ( Finding Middle Earth) on You Tube talking about how happy he was with On 1 and his Fuji files.

When I started importing my Fuji raw files into LR, I found the results mixed, but I pushed on. With Nikon, I was a LR user, and pretty pleased with my results. I recently switched from a Nikon d5600 to a Fuji XT2.

Let me share my impressions of both LR and On1.
